This season, like every year, new trends have emerged and others are back in vogue: one shoulder dresses are part of these, becoming protagonists once again in the Spring Summer 2017 collections.
They had seen their “triumph” in the 80s and are now reappearing in many shows in fashion capitals, manifesting this way fashion’s obsession for shoulders in womenswear.
Apparently, this silhouette is particularly appreciated by women because “it always stuns” and it suits all body types as well as all ages.
Of course then, starting from the same style, each brand put its own interpretation and tries to differentiate its products by creating something unique and irreproducible.
Fashion designer Anthony Vaccarello, for instance, has produced a super sexy and semi-transparent version for Saint Laurent using lace and devorè, while Ralph Lauren opted for longer variants, developing elegant shapes in silk that would fit well within red carpets. Another brand worth mentioning is Gucci, that defined some of the most important trends every season since Alessandro Michele became Creative Director.
A Gucci dress was worn by actress Emma Stone – paired with a pair of metallic pink heels from the same fashion house – during a party hosted by W Magazine this January at “Chateau Marmont” just before the Golden Globe Awards started. Other actresses who showed their sympathy for this look are Amy Adams, spotted at the same event in a David Koma, and Nina Dobrev, who chose a black and white Elie Saab (Resort 2017) to attend the premiere of the film “xxx – The return of Xander Cage” in Mexico City.
After off the shoulders came back in fashion last Spring Summer, one shoulder dresses are definitely in vogue this season… and the fact that they have been repeatedly worn by celebrities is a proof!
